So you want a chance to see how your child’s class is doing. So you visit his classroom and peek through the window, right? You want to see what clothing the store sells, so you do a little window shopping, right?
Today, Thursday, there was a chance to look through the Online School’s “windows.”
A Day of Celebration lunch was held at Chovevei Torah for the students of the Shluchim Online School. Over 170 fathers and sons attended the program. The students met their classmates and teachers, many for the very first time.
“It’s nice to meet everyone finally face to face, not just the shoulder up as we see on Skype,” said Rabbi Teichtel, Shliach of Nashville, Teneessee, the Master of Ceremonies of the event.
“We are here to celebrate the school,” said Rabbi Moshe Shemtov, the director of the Shluchim Online School. “But what’s there to celebrate if we don’t grow? What’s there to celebrate if we don’t take the past five years growth and utilize it to grow in this one year as much as the five previous years? And this has already begun.”
Hearing from the parents and students, we know this has definitely begun.
“We are quite a unique Yeshivah. In which other yeshiva do you feel like the teacher’s attention is directed exclusively to you all the time, and when the Rebbi shuckels it feels like he’s almost bumping into you? In which yeshiva do you feel the times of Moshiach where students teach teachers computer tips, on how to run Eluminate?” said Mendel Piekarski, a young Shliach from Bogata.
“Online School makes Levi from Columbia, Shmulik from Denmark, and Mendy from California feel like they’re neighbors on the same block,” said Rabbi Shemtov, the 7th grade teacher.
The delicious lunch was capped with a beautiful slideshow and a “Nigun Choir” with Rabbi Negin, where the students practiced singing and playing their instruments all online!
The rest of the day was filled with the excitement of a bowling trip, a game show, supper and more.
We thank Rabbi Moshe Shemtov , director of the Shluchim Online
School and Mrs. Gitty Rosenfeld, Principal of the Shluchim Online School for their constant dedication to making the Shluchim Online School a great success.
