A large crowd is expected to spend Shabbos Parshas Korach, June 15-16, near the Old Montefiore Cemetery in Springfield Gardens, Queens, New York.
Jews of all ages will be there to mark Gimmel Tammuz, the yartzeit of the Rebbe near the Ohel resting place, with davening, learning, farbrengens and other programs.
The annual pilgrimage is coordinated by Ohel Chabad Lubavitch, the organization run by Rabbi Abba Refson that oversees the Ohel and activities.
This year, they are planning to erect a large air-conditioned tent to provide sleeping accommodations for those spending Shabbos there. It will be a 5-minute walk from the Ohel. To reserve a bed, register at ohelchabad.org/reserve.
Others will be staying in private houses in the area nearby and RV Motorhomes. The Ohel will be providing free Shabbos meals to all guests. To help cover the immense cost, donate at bit.ly/DonateOhel.
On the anniversary of a tzadik’s passing, all the light that he planted in this world—his teachings, good deeds, and everything in which he invested his life and being—all this shines brightly, so that anyone connected to him can receive blessings of life, happiness and wisdom. Here’s what to do on Gimmel Tammuz.
Please, if as a bochur I will be staying in Elmont shul, ( as happened 2 years ago) than say so.
If I’m staying there you don’t need my info and I feel I am being mislead into thinking I have a chance at sleeping in the tent instead of walking 45 minutes.
I would rather not do what other bochurim resort to doing and put down their father as going and then have a bed in the tent.
Abba Refson is just a sweet guy. He will even run a mile just to do a favor for someone….. Abba keep up the good work. From an ex Englishmen.
