Cruel government.

Quality has gone down

They wear a uniform to get personal respect. They are more likely to get it if they behave with self respect.

This country has become a fascistic police state
November 11, 2010 7:51 pm

You know your living in a fascistic country when you get scared when you see a police car in your rear view mirror. Aren’t they supposed to make us feel safe?!?!

Dear residents of Crown Heights: After being victimized by the NYPD in the incident of October 24th in Crown Heights, we have decided to take steps to prevent further similar situations from occurring. Citizens should never be, nor ever fear to be, harassed or to have to spend their time and money on disputing frivolous or fictitious tickets. It is time to stand up for ourselves. We live in a democracy, where the power rests with the people. Government and public servants, such as the police, are here to serve us and protect us, not prey on us. Unfortunately, they… Read more »

totally agree with every word you wrote, every time I (a law abiding citizen) pass a cop I get scared he might just find a reason to fine me or something like that its got to stop

Good job guys.
somebody has to stand up and speak out.

Outrageous abuse of power
November 11, 2010 1:30 pm

These cops are being paid by us to protect us, not fine us for puny infractions of our convoluted laws. Just yesterday my wife received a double parking ticket while she was in the car (with the engine running) dropping off a family member at their residence. The cop just walked over to the car while not saying anything to my wife and started writing the ticket. The cop didn’t even indicate on the ticket that the driver was present in order to make it more difficult to fight (which I think was deliberate). Any cop that abuses their power… Read more »

WItness to scene
November 11, 2010 12:44 pm

To number 8- I was there, and they were actually very calm. You were not there, so it’s nice of you to speculate about what actually happened. Besides for that point, this type of stuff happens daily, Thank G-d it was caught on camera. To the other comments, one of the boys actually asked the Russian police on the scene “you’re from Russia right? the police said yeah, So the boy asked “this is How it used to be in Russia, no?” to which the police answered he doesn’t know. Later on that boy found out that the officer ‘found… Read more »

Good Job Yosef and co for taking the steps that may make a difference.

To all the nay sayers (#6, #8) we don’t hire the police to control our lives, we hire the police to take care or crime. If this is what they call crime, I want my money back

instead of calling it CH call it USSR
November 11, 2010 11:55 am

Are we in Russia or what??? I think with these cops around we are! They are KGB. Not funny, its really sad

To #6 As Benjamin Franklin had so very eloquently stated: ‘Those who sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither’. We can live in a police state that offer 1000% more harassment and 1% more security, put I would decline their security at the price of undermining freedom and liberty. All they have to do is profile behaviors of criminals and harassing the good citizens would be unnecessary (not to mention unconstitutional). To #8 Even if they were chutzpadik, which I don’t believe they were, I don’t think chutzpah is a punishable offense by law. Can you cite to us the law… Read more »

just got summons tonight for biking on the sidewalk in CH, I mean couldn’t they find something better to do with their time?

Tell the truth
November 10, 2010 10:45 pm

The truth is that these young men insulted the police officers by making “smart Alec” remarks. This is not a case of ticket quotas, but rather young bocherim making a chilul Hashem by being chutzpadik to police. Ask either of these two Yosefs what there friend screamed that angered the police. In my opinion they got what they deserved

if you have a story to share....
November 10, 2010 10:28 pm

write to ABC at [email protected]. I just did (about 4 lines, took me five minutes) and hopefully they more stories they will hear, the more they will investigate and maybe the problems will stop a bit.

it's complected...
November 10, 2010 10:07 pm

I’m not trying at all to downgrade the problem, but i don’t know if it’s so safe that it should start becoming the “seider” that every police act should be investigated. think about it: the police will start becoming scared to act at all, and then when real problems arise they will hesitate to to something.

some sort of balance has to be worked out.

Just BTW his name is Yakov Sabol!

This is what happens with too much power
November 10, 2010 8:00 pm

Give cops too much power and you get an abuse of power. I belive they have quotas and this is these boy are the result of it. We need major media investigation and exposing the facts.

Doesn't sound good
November 10, 2010 7:32 pm

It shows an ongoing prejudice against us that hasn’t done much for our safety. This is especially alarming considering that our community on the whole is known to be law abiding.

I am so glad that the boys did something and reported the incident to Channel 7. I myself wrote about this incident to the Mayors office. The whole story was and is sickening.
