Two individuals gained access to the Campus Chomesh building of the Bais Rivkah girls school on Lefferts Avenue in Crown Heights on Monday night, in a troubling incident.
The pair stormed the building as the Bais Rivkah School Production was taking place in the Rosa Hall with many women and girls in attendance.
The man and woman entered the building shouting and screaming, complaining that the block does not have enough parking due to the fact that the school buses are parked outside each night, a witness to the incident told COLlive.com.
One of the individuals was wearing an NYPD uniform, and presented herself as a member of the NYPD, so as to gain access to the building, a bystander said.
Members of the school’s staff stopped the intruders, who were screaming angrily about the school and threatening damage.
After being escorted from the building, the police were called, and the woman was identified as an NYPD dispatcher. They continued to shout complaints about the buses being parked on the block.
The pair were arrested by the police, bystanders said.
A member of the school’s staff told COLlive.com that charges were filed for the incident, including the complaint of impersonating a police officer.
Campus Chomesh which was named after her is threatened. Why?
Ad mosai!
Bh we have people in the shmira to make things go smooth.
Shmira and Shomrim are the best!
There is alot of problems with the neighbors in the building they make so much trouble they are calling 311 all day.
Thank the anash landlords
Bh for shomrim
Thanks for the work do you!!!
Credit to Shomrim who were there on the scene right away and deescalated the situation
😀
Kudos to the Jewish residents of Crown Heights who stand their ground.
why wasn’t there security
this is beyond crazy and terrible. Why wasn’t there security? It put everyone in a big sakana
There is amazing security! I bh work in BR and everyday when I walk in I cannot be allowed in until I show my Bais Rivkah ID. They were allowed in because she showed them, her NYPD badge.
There is security during school hours, however this was at night during production, there was no security and they just stormed into the building – BH for amazing staff that got them out regardless of her saying she was a police officer. And anyway police can’t just enter private property- they need to show a warrant.
The issue is not the busses.
The big problem in the neighborhood is that Boogie car rental uses 100s of spaces on the street.
They have over 400 cars and rented parking spaces for 125. The rest are parked on regular residential blocks.
This is an addition to the private car rental spaces that park all over.
We need the community council to deal with this issue urgently.
Agreed. Commercial parking (including rentals) should not be allowed to park on residential streets unless rented…
Is that a issue yes, and privately you or “the community council” privately should bring that up with the different Lubavitch owners and definitely see what can be done to free up parking spaces. BUT way before focusing on what our dear brothers, our fellow Yidden Lubavitchers are doing wrong on this Parking Issue, Lets focus on others that are taking away your parking. How come every other goyishe druggy building has 2 abandoned looking cars that never move in years?? some with plates (usually fake/stolen or printed plates) & some without plates. Now this may not sound like a… Read more »
It’s not buses that are the issue here. That display of insanity is not a reaction to school buses.. but if it makes you feel better, you can keep thinking that.
The commenter to whom you’re replying said, quite explicitly, that it’s not about the buses. But if it makes you feel better, ignore that so that you can virtue signal.
I live right by bais rivka the parking is insane when I come home from work at 530 I can never find parking
Not only that if you go on sterling street double-parked cars all night there cars parked by the pump etc……
Something has to be done about this.
I guess if you post here, that’s something done…?
The new buildings are popping up but zero parking garages. So street parking became a war zone.
Next time when u vote for rezoning vote to build tall building with underground parking only.
Additionally all old buildings can be remodeled and new underground parking space can be created for rent!
Legally buses are only allowed to park in bus parking lots or in front of the school that they are registered for. Theres a parking garage on the block and the next one that has spaces to rent.
Why not create a parking garage so that hundreds of cars can park?
if the buses belong to bias Rivka then they are allowed to be parked by the school
U guys are amazing
if people are trying to break into br then omg! What about brhs crown street that doesnt even do fire drills of lockdown drills!!! Students first hand said they don’t feel safe because of the lack of security and drills !
Bias Rivka High school on crown no one really calls on them or even bothers them. Even thou they are right next door to the public school.
the problem is on Bias Rivka Lefferts where the people in the building are looking and complain . the traffic in the morning on Brooklyn Ave is crazy where you cant make that right turn otherwise you will get a ticket.
Because they have parking in the back but when they build the Dorm there for BR Sem. it will be an issue too.
Only in Crown Heights do these primitive sociopaths get a free pass instead of being locked up in an asylum where they belong. We really do need representation, it’s about time. I can guarantee that if every incident was widely publicized and the history of these crimes given going back to the sixties, things would change very quickly.
The city should provide lots for school buses. Maybe there’s room by 421 Empire for a few buses.
Impersonating a Police Officer to gain access to the hall is punishable with mandatory jail. It’s shocking how the NYPD allowed someone like that as a dispatcher!
I thought BR on Lefferts has a lot on ENY to accommodate all the school busses. Might help the immediate area.
Am told not all the busses parked overnight belong to BR
When they changed the signage it affected many Jewish and non Jewish neighbors that used to park at least overnight until 7am. That’s many spaces now gone, on Lefferts, Brooklyn and ENY Avenues.
How can a dispatcher makes it in the building !? What if it was someone armed ch”sh !?
Where was security and if there was security why those individuals were giving access to the building?
This shows that anyone could just walk in
This s the scariest
Not space for parking
Parking is an issue in NYC
but they will let this go uncharged, of course, because it’s only against the Jewish community. Ad Mosai
It’s possible that there is some truth to their complaint, but there is absolutely no reason for them to come in shouting and carrying on as described in the article. This petchetchkeleh surely has access to ears at the police dept. She should have asked the dept. to set up a meeting between the school and some block representatives that know how to communicate like normal people That’s how problems get addressed, not by barging in on an event that is obviously very important to the attendees. I don’t want to imagine what would have happened if the shoe were… Read more »
