Police Commissioner William Bratton thanked the men and women of the NYPD and promised them he was leaving them in good hands in a video posted to Youtube Tuesday night.
Commissioner Bratton announced that he would be leaving the NYPD Sept. 16. earlier on Tuesday. Chief of Department James O’Neill will be stepping up and taking over as the city’s top cop.
“You’re in good hands,” Bratton said. “And more importantly, he’s in good hands because he has you – the best cops in America, the best cops that anybody could hope to have.”
New York City police officers are facing some of the toughest times Bratton has ever seen in his 45 years of policing experience, Bratton said. But despite the challenges facing the profession, Bratton has total faith in O’Neill to lead the officers of the city.
“You’re not going to get anybody better than Jimmy,” Bratton said. “He cares for you. He thinks about you all the time. He will be an extraordinary representative to tell your story.”
O’Neill, who started working as a transit cop in 1983, promised he would fully support the officers under him as commissioner. He plans to make sure they’re properly equipped and trained. O’Neill said he’s going to make sure cops are kept safe.
“I know we’re going to do great things,” O’Neill said.
He helped end Stop and Frisk and now he is leaving us with rising crime rates. Gulianni was a great Mayor. Gulianni saved the city and Bratton was there to implement what Rudi designed.
Now the commi Blasio is ruining the city and Bratton can’t stand up to him so he is going to the private sector to make mucho money.
BS”D Probably had enough of deblasio he’s lucky he can quit but we are stuck with him until the next election
