Night of Excellence in Los Angeles

Over 400 guests enjoyed a memorable and entertaining evening at the lush, green gardens of the historical Gilmore Adobe in Los Angeles in support of the local Chabad boys school Cheder Menachem.

The Annual Auction, which took place on Thursday, June 11, was emceed by Yakov Shallman, a parent, with the charming Cheder Boys Choir delighting participants (the women among them received a pashmina to keep warm in the cool evening air).

Founded in 1993, with the blessing and guidance of the Rebbe, the Cheder has grown in both renown and numbers and currently boasts over 300 students in attendance.

Under the leadership of principal Rabbi Mendel Greenbaum, the cheder is a leading example of innovative learning programs, Chassidishe atomosphere and personalized attention.

It was the first Chabad school in the country to use the Tzivos Hashem program and kiosks, and its classrooms are equipped with SmartboardsTM, helping learning come alive. Its board is comprised of caring members of the Chabad community.

A testament to its success was the presentation of the Eisenberg Award to staff members of the Cheder by Rabbi Zalman Schneur of The Menachem Education Foundation (MEF).

As reported by COLlive.com, the monetary award given to exemplary teachers was handed to second grade teachers Rabbi Elozor Fisch and Rabbi Liebel Lipsker for their use of Data Driven Instruction (DDI) charts.

All those who participated in the Cheder Annual Auction are winners, organizers noted, whether by donating prizes, showing support by attending the fundraiser or by going home that night with a prize.
