On Sunday, September 7th Chabad at the Shore welcomed a new Torah scroll to its Synagogue in Ventnor, NJ.
The Torah was purchased by Michael and Cheryl Guterman of Brigantine, NJ and given on loan to the congregation.
Expert scribe, Rabbi Yisroel Cohen of Brooklyn was on hand to complete the final letters of this magnificent scroll. Participants had the opportunity to assist the scribe in writing the letters, applying feather and ink to the parchment as has traditionally been done in Jewish communities for more than 3000 years.
The new scroll was greeted with festive singing and dancing as it made its way to its new home.
