Lubavitch bochurim completing their year of yeshiva shlichus are begining to enroll in various semicha rabbinical ordination programs around the world.
And a new program, in proximity to 770, is opening up this coming year.
Beis Midrash Chovevei Torah in Crown Heights has joined together with Central Yeshiva 770 to form a special class in Yoreh De’ah.
Sedarim will be held in Chovevei Torah at 885 Eastern Parkway, where bochurim will enjoy “specialized hadracha featuring helpful overviews and summaries as they are introduced to unfamiliar concepts and complexities of Yoreh De’ah.”
Rabbi Yosef Barber, an experienced teacher and author of the popular study aid ‘Sayatta Lelimud Shulchan Aruch’ on Hilchos Basar Bechalav, will head the program and serve as full-time mayshiv.
Exams will be arranged by Rabbi Zalman Labkowski, Rosh Yeshiva of 770, from where graduates will receive their semicha.
“It’s geared to more serious bochurim who want to learn in a conventional yeshivah setting during what is their final year of formal yeshivah learning,” says Rabbi Barber.
“It’s an opportunity to be a ‘770 Bochur’ and also enjoy the benefits of a smaller semicha program,” he adds.
Enrollment is limited; references required. For more info or to apply, contact Rabbi Barber at 917-975-4111 (evenings) or email [email protected].
There are so many in CH who are completing the Nachal and could use a PT learning/working program ending up with semichoh. Is there such a program available?
wow
What has happened to the good old days when we spent at least 3 years in 770 after shlichus? where are the guys running to after just one year? isn’t there a so-called “shiduch crissis” ?!
Didn’t they have a group this year learning Smicha?

A Serious Bochur should be learning in 770.
In my opinion, the ISRAELI KVUTZAH bochurim should go back to chovevei torah, & let the older bochurim learn in 770. They should reclaim 770.
their final year of formal yeshivah learning?!?!
When I was a Bochur I did not want to leave Crown Heights, but was envious of those who were in Semicha programs since they had a better grasp on the subject matter.
