ODA Primary Health Care Network (odahealth.org) will celebrate the grand opening of a new Crown Heights location at 779 East New York Avenue, Brooklyn, NY.
ODA offers an array of health services from regular checkups to specialized diagnosis and treatments. They employ pediatricians, cardiologists, physical therapists, social workers, dentists and a wide variety of additional specialists. The staff works hard to ensure short waiting times and flexible scheduling for the whole family, all year round.
Founded by Rabbi Zvi Kestenbaum to ensure the immigrant population of Williamsburg, Brooklyn had easy access to high-quality, affordable health care, ODA Primary Health Care Network has been dedicated to improving the health of the community for over forty years. They now have 5 facilities throughout Williamsburg and 2 summer locations in the Catskills – providing a full spectrum of health care services that are easily accessible. Their new branch on East New York Avenue will be their first Crown Heights location.
“ODA is committed to serving those with less access to healthcare and working with community members to find the best plan to fit them,” they said in a press release. “We work tirelessly to treat issues in the early stages, as a path to health can often be lengthy.”
ODA offers evidence-based, comprehensive primary care services as well as a full range of specialty, dental and behavioral health care services from 5 easy-to-access community health center locations in Brooklyn and 2 seasonal locations in the Catskills. Services are available 7 days a week, 365 days a year, with on-call availability 24 hours a day.
Recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance as a Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home, primary care is coordinated closely with other clinicians to provide for patient needs, resulting in more personalized, effective and efficient care. As a not-for-profit, Federally Qualified Health Center, ODA services are available to all, regardless of ability to pay.
The new Crown Heights ODA location will be merging with the offices of Dr. Eli Rosen, a medical practice serving the Crown Heights community for decades, he recently announced to his patients.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new offices will take place on June 21, 2022 at 5:30PM.
“We would love for you to join us in welcoming the new facility to the greater Crown Heights community,” the ODA said.
Hate to be a pessimist, but how is this any different than urgent care? We Will no longer have the personal, private jewish practice we have all been accustomed to?
Anyone can walk in, & provided its location, it will quickly catch on to all the locals & our experience @ the dr office will now be the same as walking into an uregnt care? or an .er ?
Anyone else have these concerns?
Exactly this !!! You lose the personalised service and this is more factory like. Another concern is that it’s nice to employ young frum graduates but can I tell you how many times I heard OUR families being discussed at Shabbos tables !!! Please !!! Have mercy . DO NOT hire young graduates from our community . We need a little privacy . There are so many people suffering.
You’re 100% correct. My family proudly goes to Dr Gottesman and are so so happy there! Aside from the fact that he is an incredible doctor, I truly feel a personal relationship with the practice. I highly recommend going there especially if someone is having thoughts about about leaving their current practice.
having the specialists available if needed are great but having a clinic style doctor is not something im looking forward to
Do you think that all other Jewish communities have their own private practice that they go to? NO! They go to the local doctors office and turn out just fine. Do you know why we wait by Dr Rosen’s office for an hour+, just in the WAITING ROOM? Because they triple book you! Because there aren’t enough doctors. So stop kvetching about everything and appreciate that the issue is being taken care of. You don’t NEED a personal private Jewish-but-not-from-our-community doctor so “no one knows us well enough!” Ugh! They’re literally trying to help our community! Be appreciative for once!
I’d be interested to see what should happen if a crown heightser would try to open a practice in Williamsburg, but then again it’s not like oholei Torah is producing doctors…
Williamsburg isn’t either
It’s not like these are doctors from satmar …. These are businessman capitalising on our need for more doctors and milking Medicaid money .
there are a ton of Lubavitchers in med school, residency, and premed right now. Not necessarily from oholei torah, but many many lubavitchers.
I am a very proud oholei Torah student who became a physician.
If crown heights doesnt take care of the community at least williamsburg is stepping in and providing a much needed facility in ch. Shame on crown heights…they should’ve done this years ago to help the community
You make it sound like there is this big conspiracy named “Crown Heights ” who exactly do you want to make this “much needed” facility? The teachers in Oholei Torah? The bakery? Chabad on Campus? Who is it that you are referring to? Please please enlighten us all so that we can be as smart as you…. This is a capitalist country, everyone is entitled to open whatever business it is they want. Some are successful and others are not . If this guy from Williamsburg knows what he is doing, he will make lots of money, if not, his… Read more »
Our community seems smaller because half of us live in a different country on shlichus. Lubavitchers aren’t dumb. They are just taught to have other priorities
years and years ago my husband presented and begged for this to happened only to be “poo poo’d”
They did, they had KJMC open a clinic near Empire Kosher, but the people didnt go.
I hope they keep their other offices open, additionally
I heard that they are not keeping either office.
I hope Dr. Rosen’s offices remain open, it will be really weird to have the whole Crown Heights, adults and children, and for all different types of services, converging on the same location (which also simply isn’t a convenient location for many)
I don’t think his old offices are remaining open. They are all moving to that location
Honestly, it depends where you live. For a good portion of the young families who live in southern crown heights area this is an amazing location!
Yes, the other one was on EP but that’s not so central. How many young families live on eastern parkway? I know way more that live maple street area.
Besides, the difference is a couple of blocks it’s not that far…
I wish dr Rosen could tell us exactly what’s going on
On hold right now for a hour by dr rozen is this going to get worse or better?
Same. It will only get worse.
Dr Gottesman’s office is great! Calls are answered quickly, same day appointments and we really feel a personal connection with the Dr and we feel very taken care of.
An open letter from our dear dedicated doctor would calm all of us down. Dr Rosen may you be here until 120! There is no like you
he sold the practice
Very very bad for our community
We shold go against this
It’s definitely not gonna be made for yiddin
And stop selling our community to satmer
Perhaps you can direct your concerns to the “Community Activists” and “Leaders” who are so tight with the politicians.
Surely they have our best interests in mind and have ideas and resources to help the community.
We are all yidden. If more Satmars get their degrees and become businessmen than Lubavitchers that’s fine.
I’ve been using ODA for years, they are amazing
Wow as someone who has been traveling to williamsburg to visit the ODA i am so glad and grateful to hear that they will be opening in crown heights! This is very needed in our community and so much better. ODA gives the best care and also has a personal connection with patients. Thank you ODA!
for many this is going to be difficult to get to. many families do not have cars and the walk is 20-30 for many.
will they be providing transportation. i hear they offer uber rides in other locations around Brooklyn.
also even if you do have a car there is no street parking so where do they plan to have their patients find parking. will they be providing parking?
for many who live in crown heights its a very easy location to get to. and there is parking. please keep it open
Dr Rosen wrote a beautiful letter to all his patients. if you are not his patient and you seek care elsewhere then this really shouldn’t concern you in any way.
People who don’t earn much are taken care of. But there are lots of us working people who have a huge problem- we avoid going to the dr because we are struggling due to the sky rocketing insurance premiums we pay (not to mention rent, food etc) and high deductibles- we have to pay thousands before insurance begins to pay. My out of pocket is 8k. Any way to help us??
Join the working poor class…. We work hard and have degrees etc but can’t afford anything past childcare and basic food . We don’t get a discount on anything or qualify for anything . No one understands our pain unless they are in the same category .
Wait, you mean you have a college degree and are still struggling to make ends meet – like more than half of all college graduates in this country?
Can you post this comment in response to all the people claiming that our yeshiva graduates are struggling financially because they can’t get college degrees?
And inform the world that advanced secular education is not a magical formula for financial success? Or life satisfaction?
Thank you!
At one point, I didn’t have health insurance, and Crown Heights Urgent care helped me out. I emailed the manager and he worked with me. It doesn’t help you if you need a dentist or specialist but it’s a good start.
