A weekly Torah class led its participants to decide, at the height of a farbrengen, to establish a new daily minyan.
“As an outcome of a Chof Cheshvan Farbrengen a Hachloto was made to start a new Minyan for Maariv in the lobby of our building,” a participant and resident of 888 Montgomery Street in Crown Heights told COLlive.
More than half of the residents in the large apartment building are Jewish and the organizers identify some 30-40 potential minyan goers. “There are some people on the block who can join too. So we can expect a big minyan.”
While other minyan initiatives in the neighborhood have turned into established shuls over time, “we are just a Maariv minyan. We’ll see how it works,” he says.
Tonight will be the inaugural Minyan at 9PM at 888 Montgomery St. Any questions please contact [email protected]
Does this mean the owner of the building can say his building is a non-profit for tax purposes?
I’m coming…
We always had Mariv following the shiur, but we now decided to have Mariv every night.
Many buildings with Yagdil Torah shiurim started maariv after the shiur, I think that 701 empire also has one
I wish my building would do something like this. It would be nice not to have to go outside to shul when its really cold.
How nice! Maybe I’ll attend.
