Hundreds of Lubavitchers from throughout Israel attended a special “question and answer” event about registering for property in the new city of Charish, Israel on Motzei Shabbos.
A new Chabad neighborhood is planned for the city, to be built with the assistance of a special committee, headed by Rabbi Meir Porush, who attended the meeting and answered many questions of the meeting’s participants.
The evening was held at the Talmud Torah in Kfar Chabad with the agreement of Vaad Rabbanei Chabad. Among those present were Rabbi Yitzchok Yehuda Yaroslavsky and Rabbi Mordechai Shmuel Ashkenazi.
Rabbi Avraham Schwartz, member of the planning committee of the city of Charish, described the construction process.
In response to the current housing problem in the Chareidi community, approximately 5,000 new homes are being planned, with a total of 24,000 homes and an estimated population of 200,000. Various grants and incentives are being offered to homebuyers and contractors in order to speed up and facilitate construction.
Rabbi Shai Cherbinsky of Agudas Chassidei Chabad emphasized Chabad’s obligation to build the community and create Chabad educational institutions that will serve the developing population. Over the next two days, it is hoped that many Chabad families will sign up to purchase property in the new city.
