We are running a campaign to purchase permanent home for our Chabad Center in Rock Hill, NY. Help us bring Jewish life into what was known as the Borsht Belt.
At some point in your life, you’ve probably come to the Catskills. You came for a week, a summer, or every summer. Driving up on the 17 Quickway, you’d have passed exit 109 Rock Hill, a hamlet that today grew to about 800 families, many of them Jewish, who live here year-round.
With the goal of filling the void of the sense of Jewish community that existed years ago, and creating a space for Yiddishkeit to blossom in yesteryear’s Borscht Belt, we moved to Rock Hill, a centrally located, quiet, and beautiful community to serve the Sullivan County Jewish community.
Working out of different rentals for the past two years, we knew it was a matter of time before we would need to purchase a permanent home for our Chabad House.
That time has come much sooner than we expected, and we are now raising $60,000 to purchase a permanent home for our community events, weekly Shabbos services, and our Hebrew School (with 20 students).
Generous donors agreed to match donations up to $30,000 together. In the small community we live in, we just manage to cover our programs and events, with the donations we get from our local donors. We are reaching out to you, our community, our friends and our family to help us reach raise the matching funds needed to buy this property.
Please join us in reviving the year round community of your seasonal destinations thrive in Yiddishkeit, and donate at matchathon.com/chabadofrockhill where, for the next few hours, all donations will be doubled.
With much gratitude,
Rabbi Simcha & Chany Zajac
