LA’s number one morning show featured Ron Artest, a professional basketball player with the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA, on Wednesday, shooting hoops for Chabad.
Sponsored by the very philanthropic Shlomo Rechnitz of TwinMed, each shot made resulted in a $1000 donation to Chabad.
Artest, known as one of the NBA’s premiere defensive players, felt lucky to be a part of it. “If i can come out and use my skills to help raise money for a charity, that’s G-d shining his light through me,” he said.
Artest managed to hit 29 free throws in 60 seconds, netting Chabad a $29,000 donation.
“We’re just putting the fun in fundraising” said Chaim Marcus, producer of the event.
