Mrs. Devora Scheiner held another of her ‘simcha events’ as part of her long-time charity work for all segments of the Crown Heights Jewish community.
Hosted in the home of Dovid and Malkie Smetana, guests included elder men and women and also young adults with special needs.
“We dedicated it in memory of Ruth Fania Feiga bas Nosson Nota, the wife of Professor Herman Branover, who was a very special woman,” Scheiner said.
The evening began with a performance by violinist Yitzchok Hurwitz, a Crown Heights music teacher who began playing at the young age of 8, learned in the Julliard School of Music and later taught music at Wesleyan University.
Next, they heard from two exceptionally talented pianists – the veteran Yisroel Edelstein and the rising new talent Sarah Dukes who recently released her debut album.
The special needs boys especially enjoyed the singer Yumi Lowy, accompanied by one-man-band Yaakov Zeintz, who interacted and gave them chizuk and simcha.
A Dvar Torah was given by Rabbi Michoel Seligson, a Mashpia in Oholei Torah and author of a new and impressive encyclopedia of the Rebbe’s sichos.
“I’m so glad everyone had a nice time,” concludes Mrs. Scheiner. “It gives me great joy to be able and see others happy.”
