It was a night of light and action at the NASCAR Hall of Fame, located on Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd in Charlotte, North Carolina.
It was “Celebration 30” for Lubavitch of North Carolina and the Chabad network in the Carolinas, headed by Rabbi Yossi Groner and his wife Mariashi.
Guests feasted on exquisite delights and enjoyed a spectacular performance by Guy Bavli, a renowned performer and mentalist.
Mayor Anthony Foxx read the City of Charlotte Proclamation about Lubavitch honoring its work for the past 30 years.
Among the participants was Rabbi Leibel Groner, Rabbi Yossi’s father who served for over 40 years as a secretary to Rebbe. He came in from Brooklyn for the occasion.
The talk of town was the video shown on the big screen in the High Octane theatre of NASCAR where there was the story of a different kind of race.
It is race to transform the Charlotte Jewish landscape and see how Judaism can actually thrive in NASCAR country.
Produced by Mendy Pellin, the video is humorous yet it delivers a serious message with a positive view of the future. Chris Epstein of Beco South was thanked for sponsoring the video production.
It was posted on COLlive.com and can also be watched at ChabadNC.org/30years
i may be wrong though rabbi groner worked with the rebbe during the time of the previous rebbe though did not officially become secretary of rebbe until after rabbi groner got married
Leibel Groner is not like a father to the whole chabad. To #1: speak for yourself and those who you specifically represent.
Possible correction:
I believe Rabbi Groner was the Rebbe’s secretary for over 50 years.
Keep the legacy of the rebbe going Rabbi Leibel Groner. You are like a father to the whole chabad world.
