Mrs. Chaya Landa, a Holocaust survivor and longtime resident of Boro Park, passed away on Wednesday, 9 Teves, 5778.
She was 94.
Mrs. Landa was born in Hungary, and her father Rabbi Yitzchok Klein emigrated to the United States, leaving his wife and children behind so they could receive a proper Jewish education.
During the war, Mrs. Landa was sent to Auschwitz and later Bergen Belsen concentration camps.
She, her sister and a brother were the only survivors in the family.
After the war she emigrated to the US to join her father in Brooklyn.
She married Rabbi Avraham Tzvi Landa and they settled in Boro Park, where they lived until about 10 years ago.
She is survived by her husband Rabbi Avraham Tzvi Landa, and children, Rabbi Yehuda Landa – New Jersey, Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Landa – Crown Heights, Rabbi Yosef Landa – S. Louis, MO, Mrs. Rivky Kirsh – Crown Heights, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sister, Mrs. Golda Hager – Boro Park.
She was predeceased by her brother Yehuda Klein obm a few months ago.
The levaya will take place today, Wednesday, leaving Shomrei Hadas in Boro Park at 1:30 pm and passing by 770 at 2:30 pm.
Shiva will take place at 640 Montgomery St.
