An amazing Mivtzah Tefillin Karkafta happened today in Oholei Torah School in Crown Heights.
The principals arranged a Mega Hakhel for the entire school from Pre1A – 8th grade (around 950 students) in honor of Purim.
The entertainment was by illusionist T. J. Tana.
“I offered him to put on Tefillin,” said Principal Rabbi Yehoshua Lustig. “He told me that he never put on Tefilin in his life! He then agreed to put on Tefilin, after his show, on the stage, in front of everyone, as long as it’s recorded for his mother to see.”
The entire school and staff danced with him. A very large and beautiful Bar Mitzvah it was!
After the dancing and celebrating, the staff in Oholei Torah came together and bought him a pair of Tefilin.
“I want to thank Rabbi Yehoshua Lustig and the extended family at the Oholei Torah – Oholei Menachem in Brooklyn!” Tana, who performs his illusionist and magic acts around the United States, told COLlive. “This was truly an exciting and special time that I will never forget.”
