Hundreds of Megillah readings and over 100 events helped thousands of members of the Jewish community in Moscow celebrate the holiday of Purim in a most joyous manner.
People of all ages were able to proudly celebrate their heritage in a city that was long persecuted against any such expression of religion. These events were organized by the dozens of Chabad centers in Russia’s capital.
Shluchim and Chabad activists visited senior living facilities, prisons, hospitals and schools to provide an authentic Purim experience for all.
The central party was held at the Marina Roscha Synagogue and Jewish Community Center, led by Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar. Brought in from Israel to entertain the crowd were the Bubbe Meises band and the klezmer group led by Avraham Leib Burenstein.
