Nine years after his lost his parents and home in a horrifying terror attack in Mumbai, Moishy Holtzberg will be embraced by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Modi will be India’s first head of state to visit Israel when he arrives on the 4th of July, commemorating the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between India and Israel.
His three-day visit will boost bilateral ties in areas of mutual interest between the two countries, the External Affairs Ministry said on Wednesday, according to thequint.com.
Modi will be received by his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu at the airport and a “top protocol team” of Israeli officials from various sectors including Chief Rabbis Yitzhak Yossef and David Lau.
On Thursday, Modi is expected to address the Indian community at the Tel Aviv Convention Center. About 80,000 Indian Jews belonging to four different communities – Bene Israel, Cochinis, Baghdadis and Bnei Menashe – live in Israel.
Israel’s daily Yedioth Aharonot reported that one of the people invited to attend the event is 10-year-old son of Rabbi Gabi and Rivky Holtzberg murdered during the November 2008 terror attack on the Chabad center in Mumbai.
“That meeting will definitely be a most emotional one,” wrote Yedioth reporter Itamar Eichner in a news article titled “India Honors Moishy.”
Moishy will be joined by the meeting by the heroic Indian nanny Sandra Samuel who saved his life.
Also present will be his grandparents Rabbi Shimon and Yehudit Rosenberg who are raising Moishy in their home in Afula in northern Israel.
