At a special event in the Crown Heights neighborhood in the presence of the Rebbe‘s secretary and Chairman of Merkos and Machne Yisroel Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky, Israel’s Minister of Heritage Rabbi Amichai Eliyahu announced the establishment of a large and innovative center to make the Rebbe’s teachings accessible to all in Israel.
The event took place on the evening of the 27th of Adar at the home of philanthropist Rabbi Dovid Fischer and was attended by Rabbi Moshe Shilat, Director of Chabad for Youth in Israel, Rabbi Chaim Shaul Brook, Director of Lahak, and others.
It should be noted that the 27th of Adar is also the date of the second Yechidus with the Rebbe of Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu, grandfather of the Minister of Heritage, together with Rabbi Shapiro, and this Yechidus differed from his first one since the Rebbe edited and published about the topic which they discussed.
Rabbi Krinsky told about what transpired in the Rebbe’s room during the famous satellite broadcast on Chanukah 1992, during which Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu spoke at the Western Wall in Jerusalem. Rabbi Chaim Shaul Brook related stories about Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu’s Yechidus.
The host of the event, Rabbi Fischer thanked Minister Eliyahu for his exciting news of the great honor for the Rebbe, and promised his assistance, together with others, to do whatever it takes to ensure the great idea comes to fruition.
