“Just a few weeks before Rosh Hashanah, the joys of Simchat Torah were reverberating on the streets of Mineola, Long Island,” noted Rabbi Anchelle Perl, as Chabad welcomed a newly written Sefer Torah, donated by Nezimo Sherbiro, in memory of her brother and sister, Naim Churi and Naima Churi.
Amidst celebration and festivity, the community rallied to honor the Torah and with firm resolution, pledged to increase in the observance of Torah study and the performance of mitzvot.
“It was so wonderful to see so many people join our family,” said Ami Shebiro, the nephew of the Naim and Naima. “We truly experienced a Shul filled with unity and purpose in the fulfillment of writing a Sefer Torah, the 613th mitzvah of the Torah.”
