Thirteen boys from the Bais Menachem “Daven Like a Chossid” program were recently treated to a truly royal evening.
The boys have been active participants in a Shabbos davening program for the past six months, which taught them how to daven in shul as a Chossid should.
While most youth groups exit the main minyan during services to daven separately, Bais Menachem kids take a different route. Under the guidance of the group leader, the boys remain in shul and daven with the regular minyan. The boys participate in all tefilos and follow Kriah word for word while of course pointing inside. Between Mincha and Maariv boys learn a Sicha and participate in a seder niggunim.
One of the most spectacular accomplishments of the group is its thriving and ever growing Shabbos Mevrochim Tehillim club. An average of 10 – 15 boys regularly show up on a Shabbos Mevorchim, many arriving earlier than the 8:30am minyan. Many even complete the entire tehillim by the end of Shabbos.
As a result of their tremendous effort, the Bais Menachem Shul wanted to reward them in a befitting way for making such a Kiddush Hashem. First class transportation was provided to pick up these “super stars” and bring them to their surprise destination. A Tiger Hummer Limo picked up the students at their respective schools throughout Miami, and brought them to a restaurant in the waterways in Aventura, Fl.
At the restaurant, the boys did not forget to behave as Chassidim should, and hatamim Mendel Gordon delivered a beautiful story of the Rebbe in the front of the restaurant with all who were present.
Overall, the children had a blast driving throughout South Florida like real celebrities for a couple of hours. The truth is these boys really are celebrities, as they are becoming famous throughout South Florida for their very apparent Chassidishe behavior.
A special thank you goes to the Rov of Bais Menachem Rabbi Yehuda Leib Schapiro, Reb Yossi Lipskar, Reb Zalman Fellig, and Reb Danny Bortunk for their tremendous support and encouragement. Of course this would not be possible without the very generous anonymous sponsors and for their continuous financial support of the “Daven Like a Chossid” group.
