“The Menorah Parade is a wonderful way of bringing the spirit of Chanukah and the light of Chanukah ‘to the people’ as the Rebbe wants” said Rabbi Shmuel Butman, director, Lubavitch Youth Organization and Chairman, Mitzvah Tanks Organization.
This was a huge and complicated operation to handle. Yasher koach to all thise involved! Some suggestions for the future: Perhaps streaming some Chanukah music on the Menorah parade site. This way all the cars and tanks could play the same music creating sound effects for the beautiful visual. Additionally, cars should be briefed (on the website) as to the protocol. Are we running red lights, letting pedestrians go? (As a safety issue, I feel it’s important that we do-they have no idea thais is a parade and therefore their walk sign is invalid, etc. )
We were in the parade this yr for our first time and it was lots of fun, but very disorganized. All cars were following each other and switching laines every 2 mins since we’re scared to loose parade, and at by the bridge we followed cars ahead of us went down while everyone else went up but then we caught up with them afterwards but very crazy. This parade needs to be thought through more and must give out a map to each driver. Once you arrive in Manhattan there should be a program of what ur meant to do… Read more »
Was very disorganized this year. Lots of streets not blocked and many non parade cars were coming in. To top it all off, no one had any odea where they were going. The parade office could have given a map. I was following a mitzvah tank along the parade route when before i knew we were on the FDR!! There were 20 cars behind me, we had our own parade on the FDR til 34th St. Then the mitzvah tank drove down 5th ave to… Battery Park! The driver came to us and told he doesnt know where he’s going.… Read more »
What? i was on the parade and it was an amazing escort
(i mean there is a lot of cars and they cant take care of all 250+cars)
GO EFY SHANOWITZ!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ditto to number one
I agree the cars had no clue what to do. Maybe next year every car should get a printout of the route that way everyone can be part of the parade. I. Want to give a big thank you to the organizers it gives everyone a chance to be part of such a beautiful mivtzoim campaign and bring the entire family.
I agree
Thank you very much to the Mitzvah Tanks Org always arranging this beautiful parade! Was such pirsumi Nisa and a Kiddush hashem!
(To#1: police didn’t want to escort the cars, just the tanks, so shmira did it. I think they did a pretty good job!)
crowns on top of each car that was in the parade to help spread the light of Chanukah to as many as possible! Freilachen Chanukah & משיח כאו! Awesome!
What happened to the years where we had proper police escorts for the entire parade not just the tanks. This year’s (and last) it left very disorganized and most cars were on there own people where very unsure of where to go and what to do…
