As a mother, I understand your frustration, but you as a mother who cares that your son have this positive experience, should have made sure in advance that he will have a place on a tank. and because the tanks have to be paid for it makes perfect sense that if a child wants the privilege of goi\ng on one that he should chip in and pay for it.
I counted 110 cars and about 15 mitzvah tanks. Last year there were more cars as it was on Motzoh Shabbos. I don’t know why that was changed.

Many years ago we were in the same situation, so my husband built his own menorah and for many years took all of our children and joined the parade!

This year I even saw one car that had cut out decorations hanging on their car’s windows (no rooftop menorah) and someone else took a little menorah and somehow attached it to the roof.

I know that these ideas require a car, but try to be creative and plan in advance instead of being bitter!

Best wishes for a freilachen Chanukah.

There are always a few wackos in any crowd, especially in New York. The Rebbe always went against the tide for what he felt was right. Ignore them, no other Jewish group accepts them anyway. I just hope they learn to do teshuva before 120 years…

I saw the parade go through manhattan. It was really beautiful. Walking down the streets of manhattan and seeing Lubavitcher boys at every corner made me feel so proud to be a lubavitcher. It was also beautiful to hear Chanukah Music coming from the Mitzva tanks. A real Kiddush Hashem
