This year Chanukah will be celebrated in an unprecedented manner in Berlin, with 45 public Menorahs standing across the entire city.
Among them will be five Government ministries, the foreign ministry, the interior ministry, the justice ministry, the defense ministry, the digital and transport ministry, in addition to a public menorah standing in front of the parliament of Berlin as well as in front of many government buildings and public squares.
The largest Menorah of all will be standing in front of the Brandenburg gate. In the same exact spot where Hitler and the Nazis stood and spread hate and death, Europe’s largest menorah will be standing bright and tall bringing the message of light over darkness.
On Sunday, December 18 at 2:30 PM the central Chanuka lighting took place, together with the vice-chancellor of Germany Christian Lindner, the governing mayor of Berlin Franziska Giffey, the Israeli ambassador Ron Prosor, and hundreds of people.
Among the attendees were a number of federal government ministers, fifteen ambassadors including the United States ambassador and the Israeli ambassador and many many others.
In addition, many of the key federal institutions were represented by the head of the institutions.
The celebration will begin on Sunday and continue throughout all eight days of the holiday.
On Tuesday, December 20 a car parade with 100 cars will be beginning from the Olympic stadium to the Brandenburg gate, the parade will be commemorating 50 years since the terrorist attack on the Israeli athletes in Munich, the cars will be traveling across the city of Berlin and all the main roads with Jewish music, to the Brandenburg gate.
