Who said Challah baking is an exclusively female Mitzvah?
That was the common consensus among the young members at Aliya this past Thursday night.
This past weekend was the annual international #ShabbosProject where Jews all over the world experienced one complete Shabbat together. Women gathered in all major cities around the world to bake challah, and Aliya wasn’t going to let Brooklyn miss out.
The guys really got into it and enjoyed this fun ritual that made them feel the energy of Shabbos. One boy said that it was the first time in his life he ever braided a challah and it made him feel very connected to Shabbos. Thanks to the #ShabbosProject the young men from Aliya really enjoyed the experience of making challah which would have been extremely unlikely otherwise.
The challah baking at Aliya was dedicated the immediate and safe release of Evyatar Yisroel Eliyahu be Gila Chanah (cousin of Rabbi Moishe Feiglin from Aliya) from his fabricated arrest and incarceration in an Israeli jail.
Nice to see men bake challah

You have made such an enormous difference to my life.
I was depressed and had totally tossed in Yiddishkeit.
I am slowly coming back to the fold and I feel so much better about it. Life is now worth living again and I wake up in the morning feeling happy.
I try to give the men in my family at least one chance to take challah.
