Dr. Aliza Bloch, Mayor of the Israeli city of Beit Shemesh, inaugurated an exhibition in the municipal lobby that presents laser-cut art on stainless steel and acrylic, showing some great Jewish leaders and scholars from all walks of life.
“Every time we hold an exhibition and give a stage to local art, I think to myself that we have reached a climax,” the mayor said. “I am happy to say that we are reaching new heights every time again.”
The new exhibition was created by Naama Goldberg who used the contemporary art of laser cutting on stainless steel and acrylic to create portraits.
The idea gained momentum after she was fired from her job as a programmer at a hi-tech company during the Covid pandemic.
Wishing to add both Torah and beauty to her home decor, Goldberg started creating portraits of Gedolei Yisroel and is now happy to show it to the wider public.
Among the portraits shown are that of the Alter Rebbe, the Rebbe, the Chofetz Chayim, Baba Sali, the Belzer Rebbe R’ Aharon Rokeach, Chazon Ish, Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik and Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, all of blessed memory.
“Thank you Naama for giving us gentleness and great humility, and thank you to Bat Ami who continues to bring expression to more and more talented local artists,” the Mayor wrote.
Interesting diversity of Gedolim !!!
The exhibition specifically included Gedolim from all sectors of Judaism and represented many of the local Beit Shemesh communities.
