Shalom Aleichem. I am Levi Margolin and I work with Taglit-Birthright Israel: Mayanot. In the past, prior to be employed at Mayanot fulltime, I had had the privilege of leading eight trips with Mayanot. Honestly, words cannot really describe the experience. The opportunity given to these young Jews from around the United States is unbelievable. Mayanot is currently bringing more than 4,000 students each year to Eretz Yisroel, helping them discover their Yiddishkeit.
In 1964, the Rebbe said to Geulah Cohen in an interview (then writing for Maariv Magazine) “What it takes ten years to do in the diaspora can be done in ten days in Eretz Yisroel! This IS a Taglit-Birthright Israel trip with Mayanot! These Jewish youth experience, first hand, authentic Yiddishkeit. They learn about Shabbos, Kosher, Teffilin, Taharas Hamishpocha and more. They are by and large from unaffiliated families with very little Jewish education and practice. But they are thirsty! The opportunity to influence them in a Jewish setting with Jewish concepts and ideas is not to be taken lightly.
There are many things that Mayanot adds to the Taglit-Birthright Israel program that make the trip a true “Shlichus” opportunity. Mayanot repeatedly puts forward the effort to better each trip for each student and have them experience the most positive aspects of Yiddishkeit and Eretz Yisroel.
Now, YOU can experience this as well! With more trips than ever before, Mayanot is currently seeking to expand its list of talented and experienced “Mayanot Shluchim.” The rewards and benefits cannot be put into words. We are currently seeking couples who can lead the trips, people who are married that can lead without their spouse, and in some specific cases, single people (aged 25+) who can lead. To be eligible, you must have been to Israel in the past. We have openings from the beginning of May through the end of August.
