Over the past few weeks I feel like I am living in a “tale of two cities” here in the Crown Heights neighborhood and it’s ripping my heart.
Recently, our community has been served the terrible blow of two wonderful young parents leaving their families and this world much too early.
One family has been showered with unbelievable support, while the other one has been left without any financial and, much more importantly, emotional support.
I know there are all sorts of intentions, some may even be good intentions. However, look at the results: 6 beautiful children are being ostracized from our community together with their father at the time when their hearts have been ripped out.
My mind wants to explode. Who is helping them with cleaning, cooking, homework, Pesach preparation, food shopping, clothing shopping and a loving listening ear?
Instead, there’s this effort to hold a march in the streets. Whoever wronged another should be dealt with by the Rabbanim or in court in a private manner. Why do the children have to suffer from such public bashing?!
Right now there are six crying children that need our help. Please offer a meal, sponsor a cleaning lady, take the girls shopping for bows and tights, encourage your children to befriend them (and not make comments to them at school).
If you care about the mother, take care of her children. As a community let’s give young orphans the amazing support and love we are so clearly capable of providing.
