A Chanukah Menorah lighting ceremony took place Monday night near 502 Fifth Avenue in New York’s Manhattan.
Sponsored by Chabad Lubavitch of Midtown, it was carved out of large ice blocks, reminding many passersby of the holiday of lights.
After the completion of the detailed work, Shliach Rabbi Yehoshua Metzger led the lighting ceremony and invited participants inside for a Chanukah party.
The ice Menorah will remain on the sidewalk, “as long as it lasts,” and NYPD will provide security.
