The Mangel Family dedicated a new Torah scroll in honor of their parents, Rabbi and Mrs. Nissen Mangel of Crown Heights on Tuesday.
Rabbi Mangel is a Holocaust survivor, an author, lecturer, and an authority on Jewish mysticism. His children dedicated the new Torah in honor of his birthday.
A large number of family and friends gathered for the writing of the final letters at the Mangel home on Empire Blvd.
It was a great Kiddush Hashem to have the new Sefer Torah, under a chuppah, accompanied by music, torches, and many men, women and children marching on Empire Blvd, Kingston Avenue, Montgomery St, and Albany Avenue to Ksav Sofer Shul where Rabbi Mangel is a most respected and beloved Moreh D’Asrah.
One could see many residents of these streets watching the procession on their porches or through their windows.
Hakafos took place at the Shul on Empire Blvd, accompanied by music, singing and dancing. The Sefer Torah was placed in the Aron Kodesh of that Shul.
The event was concluded with a Seudas Mitzvah.
