How to deal with low self confidence? Many different approaches have been proposed to deal with this issue, ranging from meditation to medical intervention and beyond. Thousands of books have been written on the subject, and a quick online search will bring you endless advice on the topic.
The Rebbe guided many individuals yearning for a stronger self image, in personal letters and private Yechidus. Often the Rebbe centered his advice on the importance of bitachon.
A simple solution, quoted from a letter of the Rebbe was circulated today on social media by A Chassidisher Derher:
“You should regularly attend Chassidishe farbrengens, with true Chassidishe joy… A little bit of light pushes away much darkness.”
This quote is part of a selection of a letter of the Rebbe presented in an article on the subject of Bitachon, published in the Adar Beis edition of A Chassidisher Derher magazine.
Made available for COLlive readers is a complete translation of the Rebbe’s guidance on this subject written in this letter, printed in Igros Kodesh vol. 4 page 318:

Greetings and Blessings!
“…You must be strong in your trust in Hashem; that he will place you on the true path and you will succeed in your holy work. If you have doubts, these are not [really] doubts in your own abilities, but rather a result of a weakening in your bitachon. The solution for this is to study Sha’ar Habitachon in Chovos Halevavos, and, in general, to remain connected to the Tree of Life—the study of Chassidus—and to regularly attend chassidishe farbrengens, with true, chassidishe joy; to rejoice and make others joyful.”
“As you’ve already moved into your new home, a truly proper chassidishe farbrengen should be held. Remind yourself of the old days, when farbrengens were held without considering what so-and-so might have to say about it, or what the left side or the right side might say. The only [consideration was] the knowledge that a chassidishe farbrengen—listening to Chassidus, a chassidishe vort, and a story of our Rebbeim—brings in light, and a little bit of light pushes away much darkness…”
