Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner have found a house in Washington D.C., and, more importantly, they seem to have found a synagogue as well.
After weeks of house-hunting and “shul shopping,” the first daughter and son-in-law are now ready to settle down in Washington’s Kalorama neighborhood and will attend the nearby Chabad synagogue.
The home Kushner and Trump settled on is a $5.5 million 6 bedroom house, only blocks away from the future home of President Obama and his family, according to a report in Washingtonian.
The couple has reportedly looked into joining Kesher Israel, an Orthodox synagogue in Georgetown, but ended up preferring the smaller but more centrally located Chabad synagogue, known as TheSHUL and led by Rabbi Levi Shemtov.
“I haven’t commented and cannot comment on who might attend our synagogue,” Rabbi Shemtov, founder of TheSHUL and executive vice president of American Friends of Lubavitch (Chabad) told the Forward. “That is our policy.” He did note, however, that Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner’s future home is only a seven-minute walk from the synagogue. The distance is of importance, since Orthodox Jews do not drive on the Sabbath and on Jewish holidays.
The Chabad synagogue, located near Dupont Circle, is relatively small; about 40-60 people typically attend Shabbat prayers there. During the High Holidays, at attracts up to 250 people for services. Throughout the years, many Jewish politicians have attended TheSHUL, including former senator Joe Lieberman and of current Treasury Secretary Jack Lew, several Jewish ambassadors posted in Washington, and Israeli cabinet ministers from the Orthodox parties. If Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner attending the synagogue on a regular basis, the small shul is likely to gain a lot of public attention.
The other two Orthodox synagogues in D.C., Kesher Israel and Ohev Sholom, are a 40-minute and 60-minute walk, respectively. That would make them impractical choices for observant Jews.
that may be a ‘frum’ thing to say but that is not a chabad thing to say!
These are probably the photos from when the house was listed for sale, as opposed to how it will look when the Kushners live there.
They are pictures of the kushners house to be in Wasington dc
Perfect timing for a Chanukas Habayis. The Eight Days of Chanukah finishes with such wonderful news. Another celebration is at the end of Eight years of The president we where very lucky to survive policies which was totally absurd to the Yidden. Yet, Hashem gives us so many chances even though seventy percent voted recently on the continuation of such despicable policies.
the house is fantastic
I think that Obama and Michelle are also planning to go to the Chabad shul and Melave Malka in Ivanka’s house
I hope everyone can give them some privacy though. It feels weird that a site like COL would show pictures of a private home. Yes I know it can be accessed everywhere, but we are different. Let give them their privacy.
#7 I agree its not such a big deal, but to judge on someones frumness? They may be going to Chabad, but that does not make them Chabad. So please let everyone respect the way they choose to be, its not for you to decide how frum one is.
I’m reformed and my husband is more orthodox and Chabad has always welcomed us. The main reason I love them is that they are not judgmental in anyway. For me on the other hand and my husband, we are so excited about the brilliant Trump family! We will be there for all the inaugural events and that is one of our favorite Chabad’s to visit because of the warmth of the rabbi and rebbetzin!
Are these pictures of their house or the Chabad House?
In CH 5.5 million will get you 2 run down houses haha.
LOL. it’s my new people magazine.
Nice Sukkah!

Their move should come with Mazel and Bracha….

To #1 Chabad is “Apolitical” !!!
In parshas terumah 5752(close to 25 years ago) The Rebbe said nowadays every Yid has ashiyrus(wealth) in the simple sense we just needs to tap into it. Ask your financial advisor & (or)mashpiah for guidance.
That is, two blocks from where the Obamas plan to move after leaving the Whitehouse (according to a story on the Blaze, about Ivanka and Jared moving in to this place.).
lol
#1 I think it’s an awesome idea she should be part of the Kinus 🙂 #2 why not maybe she will invite us for Shabbos after all she knows that we Chassidim are the most friendliest people in the world 🙂 me if I went to them for Shabbos I would pumped up the whole family 🙂 sing such nice beautiful songs 🙂
Has collive.com become a tabloid reporting on the personal lives of celebrities?
its overpriced for CH prices
This may sound funny coming from a Bubby…
But I love Ivanka and I love Melania.
I don’t see how Trump can go wrong with these amazing women at his side.
Add to that his amazing choices for his government – starting with Mike Pence. I went to two Pence rallies. The guy is amazing and the crowds were enthusiastic, industrious, educated people who love their country.
I did not mean to leave out Jared. His amazingness goes without saying.
their modern and not so frum
Love it! I was expecting comments like, “Why do we need to know this” but I am so happy there aren’t because it is important to show that they are going to IY”H be affiliated somewhat with Chabad and they look like a lovely family!!!!!
lol
