Registration for the annual International Kinus Hashluchim has opened Thursday, at 2pm EST, with many signing in.
Within an hour and a half some 152 people had registered, a source at Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch told COLlive.
The conference, a high point for the Lubavitch Shlichus establishment, will take place in Brooklyn, NY, November 11-16, 2009.
Only official Shluchim and activists included in the Merkos directory can attend. Registration is done at www.kinus.com
The high point of the convention is the gala banquet, which will be close to Crown Heights this year, at the massive 69th Regiment Armory on Bedford Avenue.
“This new location for the banquet will help save time on travel and buses so the event can start punctually,” Merkos wrote to the Shluchim.
“It is currently used by film studios to quietly shoot high-profile movies under tight security,” they pointed out.
As an important part of the Kinus, Shluchim add their names to a Pan Klali – a joint letter written to the Rebbe.
In order to expedite this process, Shluchim will now be able to submit their name and mother’s name at registration, instead of submitting it separately.
