On Sunday, just a few days before Chanukah, the store began to fill up. Mothers and fathers were streaming in to Kettle & Cord with their children. No, it was not because of a huge Chanukah sale, rather it was another community event at the store that has quickly become somewhat of a community center in Crown Heights!
The Pre-Chanukah Carnival featured activities, fun and delicious food for all. As Susan Kind, the store manager, who was there with her little daughter, said, “It was so exciting to see everyone getting in to the Chanukah spirit!”
The children raced down the stairs eagerly ready to start the fun. Some made a beeline for the candle making station, managed by Sara (@hassidic.hipster.girl), to make their own candles. Others lined up to get their faces painted by the incomparable Yocheved Rapopport (@joyoffaceart) or waited excitedly to get their choice of yarmulke, baseball cap or pencil case personally airbrushed by Chani Gold (@goldairbrushing). The rest were at the doughnut table, decorating (and tasting) the fabulous doughnuts. Parents and children alike enjoyed cotton candy, popcorn and hot chocolate drinks.
From 2:30pm until well after 6 the store employees and volunteers made sure that the kids were having the best time possible. “There are so many people I need to thank for this event,” gushed Susan, “Nochum, Chaim, Avi – the friendly staff who work here every day, the high school girls who volunteered . . . And our darling Tzivi!” Clearly the staff had fun too!
This is just the latest in a stream of events coordinated by Gitty Rapoport and Social Media Director Shaul, that have made Kettle & Cord famous as more then just a store. From their wildly popular cooking series (in conjunction with COLlive), to their weekly cooking classes for kids with @the_kale_maidel to the just started Yoga class with @shaynadenn, the store is constantly coming up with new ways to engage with their customers and friends.
And now they are about to get digital. The long awaited website, kettleandcord.com, is launching this Chanukah! Featuring local delivery, Dip & Ship and of course, great prices, the new website will make shopping for your home essentials even easier. Save 10% off your first order by using the code KCLAUNCH at checkout.

Customer service is great! (They actually treat like a customer…). A real pleasure shopping there
Just want to put out there that Kettle & Cord has a beautiful store and great customer service. Other CH stores can take some lessons from them. Please support the worthy vendors in the community before running to Amazon.
-A satisfied shopper (I don’t gain anything by writing this, just want to put a positive message out there.)
Shaul you’re the best!! So proud of you!!
Where was this publicized? Would’ve loved to take the kids?
How can we find out about the next event?
Was there a charge to participate?
