Hundreds of Chabad Shluchim from around the world will be gathering to strategize, enhance, and grow their adult educational activities in preparation for the upcoming academic year.
The annual JLI Conference + Expo convenes the instructors of the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute (JLI), billed as the world’s preeminent network of adult Jewish learning in some 900 communities.
Taking place on Monday, 2 Tammuz – June 26, the conference will be held at magnificent Grand Prospect Hall in Park Slope, 263 Prospect Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11215.
Located just 15 minutes from the Crown Heights neighborhood, there will be free transportation provided from the corner of Kingston Avenue and Eastern Parkway.
For the first time, JLI is opening up its conference for all Shluchim – even those who aren’t instructors of JLI courses.
“The Rebbe charged all Shluchim to conquer the world through Torah study,” said JLI’s Chairman, Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, noting that every Shliach can benefit from being trained by leading experts in public speaking, pedagogy, student engagement, marketing, branding and social media.
“Our goal is to provide cutting-edge tools, guidance, and resources to allow each shliach to emerge as the paramount source of authentic Torah study imbued with the light and warmth of Chassidus, to every Jew in their community,” said Rabbi Kotlarsky.
Shluchim will learn from leading figures how to kindle an excitement for learning in their community, how to sharpen their teaching and class engagement skills, how to cultivate habit-building for Torah study, how to brand their Chabad center as the premier provider for Jewish literacy, how to effectively raise funds, market and and engage their wider community with JLI’s educational offerings.
Highlighting the conference will be one of the world’s most effective social media expert, Sal Litvak; renowed orator Rabbi YY Jacobson on teaching tools; Yeshiva University’s Professor of Talmud Rabbi Benjamin Blech, on dynamic pulpit speaking.
New York University Professor Lawrence Schiffman, along with JLI’s course editors Rabbi Mordy Dinerman and Rabbi Naftali Silberberg, will be presenting the JLI’s flagship courses for the upcoming academic year.
Senior Shluchim addressing the conference will be Rabbi Yisroel Deren, Rabbi Shmuel Kaplan, Rabbi Ronnie Fine, Rabbi Hesh Epstein and local Shliach Rabbi Shimon Hecht.
Fellow Shluchim will share best practices and success stories in panel discussions and in fast-paced TED-Talk style presentations, among them: Rabbi Aryeh Weinstein, Rabbi Zalman Gordon, Rabbi Chaim Mentz, Rabbi Yehuda Ceitlin, Rabbi Sholom Ber Cohen, Rabbi Yossi Mendelsohn, Rabbi Yossi Serebryanski, Rabbi Yosef Levin and Rabbi Abba Perelmuter.
Speaking on behalf of JLI will be Executive Director Rabbi Efraim Mintz, Marketing Director Rabbi Zalman Abraham, Rabbi Yisroel Beenstock and Rabbi Zalman Margolin, coordinator of the conference.
In addition to the workshops, JLI is planning to unveil over 20 new educational resources and products during the conference, to be featured at the comprehensive Expo along with multiple offerings by other Chabad organizations and providers.
New offerings include card-based social learning, innovative ideas for one-on-one study, a new home visitation study, new social media offerings and much more.
