Avram Fried recognized that song as being non-Jewish because it’s well-known (non-Jewush music consists of Jewish and appropriate lyrics as well as a tune composed by a Yid). Any other song that is not Jewish or taken from a not Jewish song he would not have known it as such. And also “don’t hide from me” is a completely Jewish song

Far and away the best talent out there
First of all, I am biased, because….I held the “point & shoot” camera that shot Moshe’s live performance. Nevertheless, you should know: Moshe grew up in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Israel. Its called “Shikun Daled”, Upper Tiberias. Mostly very poor Jews who immigrated from Morrocco. But its a place of hope, with many small “Schteiblach” shuls. Strange that you have an issue with the talis – you wore one at night or close to nighttime on the chabad telethon singing avinu malkeinu (or a diff song).
i think the one with the best voice is SHIMI, i think he really has a future in the jewish music world, you can tell the power and the sweetness in his voice, I really hoppe to hear from him in the near future.

Dovi Minkowicz has a very broad spectrum voice. I`v heard him sing softly as well as chazzonish style. That is actually the beauty of this guy. Hope the judges will see in him what I know exists.

Thank you for your kind words, much appreciated. I have to say though that I agreed completely with the judges assessment of it. Ultimately I posted a video that was not competition specific. Considering it was a recording of a practice session I thought it was a cool and “in-theme” video, but ultimately I agree that it does not show my strengths in voice or in performance and I think that was their point. …antelis was singing an original song made up by his sister and himself hence a jewish song, the other guy chose a song that stood out as a well known non jewish song. No double standard here unless your factoring in previous years.

Allthough it is irrelevant if they make it ( Dovi & Mendel ) all the way to the top, we all know that they are super stars allready by thier superb singing skills. I don’t understand, only ONE of the contestants, Markowitz, was singled out for singing a “non-Jewish song”.
Can someone explain this to me? Was the Antelis kid not singing a non-Jewish song? What about the other 80% of the singers?

All the juniors rock!… why coudn’t ALL the adults?! I especially love Antelis! Nice! My face and excitement at the junior’s was….! I agree, Mendy, Avraham, LOL! Btw, Yossi Green was…. serious. I also wish the finalists would have REALLY short clips at the end to remember who they were tho.
