Who knew that fresh donuts are a key to connection?
Nine year-old Chaya Mushka, a shlucha with her parents Rabbi Yonah and Esti Grossman, who co-direct the Chabad Jewish Center of North Dakota, recently demonstrated this: Since September, she has been an active member of Jewish Girls Unite’s Creative Online Club, which gives her “a sense of connection and belonging to other Jewish girls” while living in a state where they know approximately 100 Jews, Esti explains. “That soul connection is very strong and gives her a lot of confidence. She really enjoys the creative activities and being in the presence of everyone [at JGU].” After an exciting morning online of frying at the Club, Chaya Mushka happily delivered donuts to the only Jewish girl her age in North Dakota!
Continuing to bridge the virtual and in-person experiences, Chaya Mushka will soon fly into New York for the 15th Anniversary Jewish Girls Winter Retreat, December 29 – January 2! CLICK HERE to register while time and space remains..
Loved by numerous girls from around the world for the past 15 years, the JGR Retreat invites girls (age 8-15) to immerse in 5 days of vibrant Jewish learning, self-discovery, creative expression, winter adventure, real connection with peers and mentors, and lifelong memories, says founder and director Nechama Laber.
The program takes place at the idyllic Jewish Greenbush Retreat (near Albany), surrounded by nature with convenient access to transportation.
A former camper says, “It was amazing to be in such a warm, loving, happy environment! Thank you for the most amazing experience I ever had. The Retreat made a huge impact on me, teaching me so much about life. I hope you continue your amazing work, inspiring others like me in their own lives to grow as proud Jewish girls!”
Can’t make it to East Greenbush, or just spending winter at home?
On a mission to support meaningful connections with girls everywhere, JGU has you covered, ready to bring the warmth to YOU with a Virtual Shabbaton, December 23-26, including two evenings, two mornings, and a Shabbos break. CLICK HERE to learn more or register now.
