Rabbi Chaim Levy of Sydney’s Shul teamed up with Israeli soccer player Tomer Hemed to host a Chanukah party with a difference.
At the event, over 15,000 gifts were packed for children in hospitals across Australia.
Teens and young adults joined to make the packages and took part in an uplifting menorah lighting. The atmosphere was electric and filled with Chanukah spirit.
The event featured an Israeli DJ, overflowing donuts, and Israeli style buffet.
The event concluded on a high with Tomer Hemed raffling of a soccer ball signed by all the players of Western Sydney Wanderers, as well as a jersey worn during his first game and a brand new iPhone 13. Tomer’s daughter Maya drew the raffle and picked out the lucky winners!
I wish there would be a thank you to all those that helped this event happen.
Thank you Rabbi Leah and Dovid slavin
Thank you Rabbi Yossi Shuchat
Thank you Rabbi Benny Barukh
Thank you to the whole Jems team for a bunch of the decorations.
The main thing is you all had a good time and that’s the most important thing I would like to wish the Israeli soccer star Happy Chanukah
