This week, hundreds participated in a memorial event in the Young Israel Synagogue of Sunny Isles beach. One of the guests was the Israeli Consul of Miami, Florida.
The event began with the prayer ‘Kel Male Rachamim’ by the chazan Netanel Hershtik, and a memorial candle lighting ceremony by the Mayor of Sunny Beach, Mr. Norman Eidelkop, and the local Chief of Police, Fred Mass.
The community Rabbi, Rabbi Meir Moshe Heber, spoke movingly about strengthening our faith, about the Rebbe and the Jewish nation.
Community president Mr. Chaim Gadli spoke about unity among Jews.
The guest of honor was the Israeli Consul to Miami and Puerto Rico, Mr. Ofer Bavli. He told stories of his encounters with Chabad throughout his life and praised the shluchim. He concluded with the importance of unity amoung us following the Mumbai tragedy, and in facing the current threats from Iran.
The evening’s MC was Mr. Shlomo Spitzick, a community member. The crowd watched a moving video about the Holtzbergs HY”D and their wonderful work to bring Jewish souls closer.
