The court doesn’t rule?
The victim’s family decides?
Crazy!

Don't forget, this is Iran!!!

Correct on all three. No, the court does not rule. Yes the victim’s family decides. Yes, it is crazy. Sometimes people just cannot look past the culture of their own county to see what is done in other countries. Often, however, that is a good thing since they might not be able to comprehend what one person can do to another.

Under Muslim law the family can choose to accept a weregild/blood money type payment for the dead “victim” which would exempt the accused from punishment. The Torah specifically prohibits us from accepting such a payment (Bamidbar 35:31), but my understanding is there is no prohibition on paying one to save the life of a Jew.

It wasnt pushed off for a month, he was completely released. This is the message the boys mother posted: “God bless you!! The mother of the boy Nathaniel Ben Ziona who was sentenced to death in Iran, says here in Persian that her son has been released and thanks everyone who prayed in America and the Land of Israel and congratulates him”

Can you send a link to that post?

To coincidence;

I thought the same as the timing is perfect. This was postponed from Shabbos to Monday which in itself is a major thing especially for the Iranian government.
I’m not sure if the Helicopter crash was directly involved, but we Yidden know this is the Yad Hashem here !!

May we hear good news especially coming up to Lag Beomer…..

This gemara says clearly if one comes to kill you, you have a mitzvah to kill in self defense.
