The New York Police Department is strictly enforcing the “no standing zones” around the vicinity of Lubavitch World Headquarters, a busy intersection in the Crown Heights neighborhood.
Vehicles stopping at 770 Eastern Parkway and at the Jewish Children’s Museum are quickly being ordered by police officers to drive away.
“Even if a driver is sitting in the car, you may get a $115 summons,” one bystander reported. Numerous Crown Heights residents have reportedly been ticketed over the past few days.
One community activist told COLlive.com that no direct threat was reported in Brooklyn, but that “after the shooting in a South Carolina church, there is even more concern about houses of worship.”
They should be able to profile. Ie chosid by 770 vs black guy w knife.
how come someone was able to smash the door to the women’s shul on the far side of the porch earlier this week? Must have created a massive noise as the wood cracked.
Does anyone know how it happened? Were there any arrests made?
The police are increasing patrols to give out more tickets .
Its called qoutos of the month .
Remember that the 770 stabber left his car on the no standing zone. That zone is there for our safety to prevent attacks.
We all know this. What’s your point? Not germane to the article.
The law is there to protect us.The police are in harms way and deserve our support in every way.Boruch Hashem we have the POLICE WHO DESERVE OUR THANKS AND BLESSINGS.
They are protecting us and others.
Why not Union St also?
Thank you NYPD for strictly enforcing the ‘no standing zones’ we feel much safer now that there are fewer ‘standers’.
Would be possible to do the same for the increase in muggings and shootings around this neighborhood?
Der Rebbe’s Shul! Malko Shel Olam! The Rebbe’s palace!
All true and perfectly legal. But there’s something wrong when you know you can park by Utica when your registration sticker comes late and you don’t have a driveway…because ‘the Jews’ don’t live there.
So be thankful the police are providing extra protection for us instead of those complaining that the police are giving tickets. It IS a no standing zone, so even if you may have gotten away with it many times, those were the exceptions not the rule.
