Inspired by talks of the Rebbe on how Jews around the world can influence the safety of the Yidden in Eretz Yisrael, PROJECT EDEN was started by a group of Crown Heights women.
Starting Sunday, 22 Tammuz (July 20) until Monday, 8 Av (August 4), every girl who came to day camp dressed in Tznius attire (i.e. clothing which keep necklines, elbows, knees and feet covered at all times) received an EDEN card.
Eight such cards entitled a girl to a free ice cream at Sweet Expressions or the Ice Cream truck. All cards were entered into a raffle for a $100 gift certificate at Sweet Expressions or Hamafitz Judaica.
PROJECT EDEN was started with a three-pronged goal: Firstly, it involved KIDS, Tinokos Shel Bais Rabban, our guarantors whom we turn to in times of trouble (think: 22 thousand children in the times of Mordechai and Esther). It’s all about ACHDUS – One nation, united, wherever we may be, giving of ourselves to help Israel. Thirdly, it’s about TZNIUS- our sure-fire protection.
The following Day Camps participated: Beis Rivkah, Beis Chaya Mushka, Monsey Chabad day camp, Evergreen, Mountain Lodge, Himmels, Kol Tuv, Mt. Crest, Naharia, Cozy Acres, Mei Menuchos, Rozentzvig- Swan Lake.
Many camp directors reported the success of the project.
“Project Eden got many campers in Beis Rivkah Day Camp super excited, and encouraged many to be more careful in their Tznius. Over 100 campers got eight or more Eden cards. Head Counselors in BRDC made Eden pouches. The shuir counselors mainly took care of this project in BRDC. Thank you very much.” – Beis Rivka
“It brought an awareness to my children, that tzinius isn’t just a rule to keep in school, but a mitzvah to cherish,” said a parent.
The drawing was held on Friday, just before the 18th of Elul.
