How should a photographer prepare his equipment for the Pesach holiday? Wrap it with tinfoil, of course.
That was the demand made to a member of Lubavitch photographer Israel Bardugo‘s camera crew.
He arrived at the home of a known Admur (Rebbe) in the Israeli haredi city of Bnei Brak and was told the residence was cleaned for Pesach.
The photographer was asked to cover his camera, lense and flash with aluminium foil, as “they were not Koshered for Pesach,” he was told.
Bardugo, amused and surprised at the same time, asked his photographer to follow the instructions and move on with the job.
He asked COLlive.com not to identify the name of the Chassidus dynasty in fear of losing his friendship with the group.

Essentially, anything that you use during the year with “chomitzdike” hands MUST be covered. That’s why many people cover benchtops and tables with tablecloths. Therefore it is not farfetched or a meshugas because chometz has touched the camera. I think you should also cover doorhandles, doorbells, knobs to drawers and closets and handles or buttons for anything else you can thing of. This includes phones and ipods.
Does it have to be locked/sold/burnt for pesach?
