I guess in Mrs. Karmely’s case, the Rebbe knew her husband would respect SOMEONE. So once she found that someone, they were on the road to things gradually getting better. My husband has “on paper” a mashpia, but he does not follow what that mashpia says. He doesn’t even like it when I ask (only a few times a year) a kitchen sha’alo to a Rav; my husband says it is “wasting the Rav’s time.” (My husband does not have s’micha; it’s not I am bypassing him and that HE knows the answers to my occasional sha’alos. It sounds like your relationship has much deeper issues than what is coming to the fore with regards to yiddishkeit. I would recommend you see a marriage counselor.
