On Wednesday, the 14th of Iyar, May 22, Captain Yisrael HaCohen Yudkin HYD, who served in the IDF Netzach Yehuda Battalion, fell in the Gaza Strip.
He was almost 23 years old when one of his soldiers was hit by sniper fire, and he jumped to save him. While trying to save his soldier, Yisrael was also hit, and despite all the efforts to save him, he returned his soul to its creator.
Yisrael was born and raised in a Chabad family in Kfar Chabad. Together with three of his brothers, he fought in the war that was forced upon us on Simchas Torah. He led his soldiers into difficult battles with professionalism and devotion, and gave them courage and inspiration.
His death left a burning hole in the hearts of his family members, the soldiers of the Netzach Yehuda Battalion, family friends, the Chabad community and the entire Jewish nation.
Alongside the shared grief and condolences we send to the family, the desire to properly perpetuate the memory of Yisrael burns in the hearts of us all.
In consultation with his family members, it was decided to memorialize Yisrael’s memory in the shul where he used to daven with his family members, in the Levi-Yitzchak neighborhood in Kfar Chabad. A Sefer Torah will be written and placed in a prestigious hall that will be built in his name, alongside the completion of the shul for the Aliyah of his Neshama.
Yisrael gave his life as a shliach of all of Am Yisrael.
This is our opportunity to honor him and act for the Aliyah of his Neshama, by participating in the act of commemoration.
Please donate generously and take part in this holy mitzvah.
