More than 300 people came out to watch a first-ever public menorah go up in Mill Hill, a suburb in the North West London Borough of Barnet, England.
“There’s a lot of “green belt” policy here, so nowhere previously to place a public menorah,” explained Rabbi Yitzchak Schochet, Rabbi of the Mill Hill Synagogue and Principal of the Etz Chaim Jewish Primary School in Mill Hill.
“Last year, the borough built a special square and put a tree up,” said the Chabad Shliach. “This year, they granted permission to put a Menorah next to the tree. Only the tree was never delivered.”
Many residents of all ages and backgrounds joined later for a Chanukah party and live concert by the Solomon brothers from Israel.
Hatzlacha, משיח כאו!
I ca only imagine how much work it took to make this a reality.
