It was only a short while ago that the Bnos Chabad Heads of Rohr Bais Chaya Academy decided to embark on a school-wide project that had never before been attempted. Within a remarkably short space of time, they had contacted those in charge, formed a committee, chosen a date and arranged all necessary details.
But why? With the date of printing shortly before us, on Rosh Chodesh Sivan, this question was posed to the girls themselves. Why did you choose to do this? Why do you want to print a Tanya?
Because just as a Jewish community needs staples of Jewish life – a mikvah, a shul, a school – so too does a Chassidishe community, and a Chassidishe school, need a Tanya. Sefer HaTanya is the foundation of Toras HaChassidus, and we need one of our own.
Our mission is hafatzas hama’ayanos – spreading the wellsprings of Chassidus. Printing this Tanya is a part of that.
It’s an expression of our hiskashrus to the Rebbe. The Rebbe asked that a Tanya be printed in each city as a bakasha nafshis. And because when we print it, we’ll learn it, and connect to the Rebbe through our learning.
Chassidus shapes who we are, and it all starts with the Tanya. Printing it ourselves will inspire us with a greater drive to learn it. It’s the difference between buying a beautiful and delicious dessert and making one yourself. We’ll own it.
The Rebbe expressed that this was a Bakasha Nafshis (a heartfelt and personal request). We will be printing the Tanya’s on Rosh Chodesh Sivan, and would like to offer you the merit of being a partner in fulfilling the Rebbe’s personal request. All partners will receive a copy of the Tanya.
