Mr. Hershel Backman, longtime resident of Crown Heights, passed away Shabbos, Yom Kippur, 5775.
He was 92.
Mr. Backman was a printer, who was known as a devoted Chossid who spent many hours davening and learning every day.
He was blessed by the Lubavitcher Rebbe years ago at a farbrengen with “Arichas yomim” – long life.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah, and children: stepson Chaim Backman – Crown Heights; Eli Backman – College Park, MD; Chani Elmalah – Milan, Italy; Shevy Lowenstein – Philadelphia, PA; Leah Davidson – Crown Heights; Aharon Dovid Backman – Tampa, FL; Nechama Dina Leeds – Crown Heights.
The levaya will take place tomorrow, Sunday, at Shomrei Hadas at 12:00 pm, and passing by 770 at 12:30 pm.
Shiva will be at 386 Crown st.
Shachris: 8:00 am
Mincha/maariv: 6:15 pm

10:30 am to 1:00 pm
2:30 pm to 9:30 pm

Sara Rivka and family, my deepest condolences to you on your loss. May you find peace in the comfort of family and extended community around you and Herschel. My last conversation with him moved me deeply and I regret not finding the means to continue it. I will hold him in my heart and thoughts and join those with yours as best I can.
