The heartbreaking levaya of Rabbi Mendel Plotkin, a 43-year-old husband and father of 9 from the Chabad community in Toronto, passed by 770 on Sunday on the way to burial at Old Montefiore Cemetery in Queens.
Mendel was a devoted husband and father, together with his wife they were raising a true Yidishe, chasidishe family.
He served as a mashgiach in Yeshivas Lubavitch of Toronto for many years. He also opened a discounted grocery store to assist melamdim and people in need.
He was an exemplary proud Chossid who was active in spreading Chasidus, the Rebbe’s horaos and a tremendous Baal Chesed. In his quiet and unassuming manner he helped hundreds with their financial challenges.
He is survived by his wife Goldie (nee Wolosow) and 9 children: Nochum – 18, Yisrolik – 16, Sheina – 14, Levi – 12, Yosef – 10, Chaya Mushkah – 8, Shneur – 6, Feiga Tzippa – 3 and Relka – 1.
He is also survived by his parents Mayer and Sarah Leah Plotkin and siblings, Miriam Notik – Montreal, Rivkie Bogomilsky – New Jersey, Shterny Raskin – Montreal, Levi Plotkin – Crown Heights, Shmarya Plotkin – Montreal, Nechama Dinah Lipskier – Crown Heights, Yosef Plotkin – North Carolina and Malka Michla Perlow – Crown Heights.
